The Soundtrack of My Life

One of my cousins (Hi Kathy!) posted a comment on Facebook about a year ago, asking readers to post a song from the soundtrack of their lives. I've been giving it a lot of thought since then and boiled it down to this list of twenty-one songs, plus three extra for when I'm feeling a certain mood.

All of these song have some relevance to a particular moment in my life. Some of them were paticularly dark moments and a simple song helped me get through it. The sad thing is that I'm actually worried I've forgotten one that was really important to me.

Ahh... the gray hairs are getting to me.

Besides, something tells me, the longer I live, the longer this list is gonna get.

Without further ado, here is the soundtrack of my life. If you don't know a particular song, click on the link to listen to it on YouTube:
  1. Star Wars Opening Title - John Williams (Star Wars)
  2. The Wishing Song - Gonzo (The Muppet Show)

  5. Hip To Be Square - Huey Lewis & The News
  6. Cabaret - Liza Minnelli (Cabaret)
  7. El Paso - Marty Robbins
  8. Everybody Ought to Have A Maid - A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum
  9. You Are The One - Mike & The Mechanics
  10. Go The Distance - Hercules Soundtrack
  11. It's Good to be King - Tom Petty

The Flip Side
So, if you could pick any songs from the soundtrack of your life, what would they be? Which songs or artists got you through the dark patches in your life?

If you had to boil your life down to just one song, could you do it?

  1. Um, no. My current "songs I really dig" playlist has 400 songs in it. Boiling it down to one for my entire life is impossible. If you asked me about the big moments in my life I would say yes. When I graduated from High School it was probably "One Headlight" by The Wallflowers. When I got married the song was "If you're not the one" by Daniel Beddingfield. I could go on, but I won't bore you :)

  2. Oh my gosh... this is too cool, Anthony. What a fun concept! Love your list--all classics. Gosh, one song for me? It'd probably be the main theme of Swan Lake, actually. Though I definitely could list more for different occasions! :D

  3. I don't think I could boil mine down to one, but I LOVE that you've made a playlist for yours. And great songs on it too!!!

Now you seriously have my mind spinning about it all and I'm going to be thinking about "my songs!"
